If there’s one thing that reading Out and Running: Gay and Lesbian Candidates, Elections, and Policy Representation by Donald P. Haider-Markel taught me, it’s that we need more descriptive representation to gain more substantive representation.

It means that the more out LGBT representatives we have in legislature, the more we will see pro-LGBT legislations.

This year, we have a record number of LGBT people running for Congress than ever before. We need to vote them in.
